About Laurenz

After completing his piano studies, Tom Waits fetched Laurenz Wannenmacher to the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg in 1992 to work on the highly acclaimed production “Alice”. Since then he’s worked on over thirty theatre productions as music director, arranger, pianist and performer.


Laurenz is currently rehearsing for „Cry Baby”, directed by Michael Heicks, at the Theater Bielefeld.

His theatrical performances include working alongside Claus Peymann (“Alpenglühen”, Thalia Hamburg), Sven-Eric Bechtolf (“Die Schlacht”, “Der Streit”, “Romeo und Julia”, Thalia Hamburg), Katharina Thalbach (“Mit dem Feuer spielen” Thalia Hamburg), Jan Bosse (“Der Menschenfeind”, Schauspielhaus Hamburg and“Peer Gynt”, Thalia Hamburg), Ulrike Maack (“Die Dreigroschenoper”, Schauspiel Kiel), Nicolas Stemann (“German Roots”, Festspiele Recklinghausen), Anna Bergmann (“Bunbury”, Thalia Hamburg), Anne Lenk (“In der Republik des Glücks”, Thalia Hamburg), Heike M. Goetze (“Messer in Hennen”, Schiffbau Zurich), Jette Steckel (“Woyzeck”, Thalia Hamburg), and Heike M. Goetze (“Woyzeck”, Staatsschauspiel Hannover).

Laurenz also works in music theatre, and has led performances of the “Comedian Harmonists” in Kiel, Mayen and Frankfurt, writing arrangements and playing the role of pianist Erwin Bootz. He also arranged the music for the musical “Blues Brothers” and the revue “Kleiner Mann, was nun?”, both productions by Barbara Neureiter.
